Our Solly Wraps, Sleepers, Swaddles, Crib Sheets, Knotted Hats, and Solly Dollies are made of 100% certified TENCEL™ Modal, Lenzing's flagship brand for textiles. TENCEL™ Modal fibers are made from wood, a natural and renewable raw material carefully sourced from responsibly managed forests. The wood taken from nature is purposefully balanced with forest growth rates, to ensure the continued availability of this valuable resource. TENCEL™ Modal fibers are certified as biodegradable and compostable.
TENCEL™ Modal fibers are naturally soft and smooth to the touch. TENCEL™ Modal fibers help to retain the softness of fabrics even after repeated washing. The structure of TENCEL™ Modal fibers allows the absorption and release of moisture. In the final textile product, these effective moisture controlling properties support a drier microclimate on the skin, increasing the wearer’s thermal comfort.
Our fabrics are woven and printed in Los Angeles. The finished product is lightweight and breathable, yet durable enough to be machine-washed and tumbled dry. All of our dyes are nontoxic, AZO-, phthalate- and metal-free. We do not use flame retardants.
After exploring countless fabrics for the Solly Wrap, we chose to make it using 100% TENCEL™ Modal, and for good reason(s). It’s naturally-derived, gentle against delicate skin, breathable, lightweight, and durable…just to name a few! Learn more about why TENCEL™ Modal is our go-to fabric.
All Solly Baby items should be washed on a cold, gentle cycle and then tumbled dry on low (not hung to dry!) to maintain the durability and strength of the fabric. Avoid washing with other clothing or items that have snaps, buttons, Velcro, or zippers, which can snag the fabric or create holes. If your washing machine has an agitator, consider using a delicates bag for smaller items. Pretreat any spots with a product containing enzymes prior to drying to avoid setting the stain, and do not use bleach. Avoid clipping anything, including pacifier clips, to the fabric to avoid unintended holes. For long-term storage, place Solly Baby items in an airtight container.
Yes! The Solly Wrap is a very breathable baby carrier made from lightweight, naturally breathable TENCEL™ Modal, designed to keep both you and baby comfortable even on the hottest days. It's widely loved (just check the reviews!) as one of the best baby carriers for hot weather thanks to its moisture-wicking, buttery-soft feel.
Nearly all of our products are made in the U.S. using 100% certified TENCEL™ Modal fabric sourced from beech wood trees in sustainably-managed forests in Austria. We work closely with everyone involved in our supply chain and visit the factories frequently to build our relationships and observe the working conditions firsthand.
The sewing house in Los Angeles has been run by the same family for more than three generations, and the sense of community is evident the moment you walk through the door. The matriarch of the family regularly whips up baked goods for the workers to enjoy in the break room—sweet in every sense! Working with domestic suppliers allows us to provide jobs to U.S. workers, produce top-quality goods, and turn around products quickly so our shop is always well-stocked.
Our Totepacks are made in China where we work closely with our factory partners to ensure the highest level of quality and attention to detail.
The Solly Wrap is certified hip-healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute, which means that it’s designed in a way that supports healthy hip and spine development throughout baby’s first year and beyond. Learn more about how the Solly Wrap promotes hip health here.

Yes! The wrap is compact and lightweight by design, making it easy to take with you on-the-go and stash inside a diaper bag without taking up valuable real estate. There’s a built-in pocket at the end that allows you to quickly and easily bundle up the wrap. When you’re ready to use it, just pull it out and the fabric will naturally unwrinkle.
We could talk about the benefits of babywearing forever! Here are some of our favorites:
- It promotes bonding between the baby and wearer, fosters healthy attachment, and helps parents feel more in-tune with baby's cues.
- It allows you to be hands-free while keeping baby close, enabling you to fold laundry, respond to emails, care for big siblings, and more.
- It provides a womb-like environment for baby, easing their transition into the world and making them feel safe, secure, and comfortable.
- It helps soothe even the fussiest babies, especially those with reflux or gas. A pediatric study found that wearing your baby three hours a day can reduce infant crying by up to 43%!
- It can help reduce postpartum depression and boost milk supply for nursing mamas.

I HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT USING MY WRAP.
New to babywearing and looking for baby wrap instructions? We have plenty of resources to help you learn how to wrap your infant. The best resource is our wrap tutorials page, where you’ll find detailed videos that provide an introduction to babywearing and walk you through everything from tying on your wrap to taking baby out, troubleshooting, and more. We also provide weekly wrap tutorials and live demonstrations over on our Instagram.
The Solly Wrap is safety-tested for babies 8 to 25 pounds, and we find that most parents use it most heavily during the first six months of baby’s life. We recommend to wear baby in it as soon as possible following birth to help ease baby’s transition to the world—a practice we call going from “womb to wrap.” Because the Solly Wrap shouldn’t touch the incision site when tied properly, it’s also one of the only types of carriers that can be worn directly following a C-section (with a medical provider's permission, of course). For more information about babywearing following a cesarean, click here. If you or baby have any other special circumstances, we recommend connecting with your medical professional prior to wearing.
Ensuring that you and baby are comfortable and safe while babywearing in the wrap is our highest priority. To start, ensure your baby falls within the safety-tested weight range for the Solly Wrap—between 8 and 25 pounds. Once you tie on, we recommend using the T.I.C.K.S acronym to ensure baby is wrapped in a safe and secure position. T for tight, I for in view at all times, C for close enough to kiss, K for keep chin off chest, and S for supported back. Read about TICKS in detail. You should also always be sure to use a wrap without holes, snags, tears, or any other damage that may compromise the integrity of the wrap.
Yes! Once you and baby have an established breastfeeding relationship and are comfortable wrapping together, a few simple adjustments can make nursing in the wrap both easy and convenient. Watch this tutorial to learn how, and feel free to email advice@sollybaby.com for additional tips or advice.
No. Wraps like ours are not designed to be worn with baby facing forward or on the wearer’s back—it puts too much pressure on baby's spine and joints and increases the risk of them falling out of the wrap. It also puts extra pressure on the wearer's back.
No. The Solly Wrap is designed for just one baby at a time. However, it is an ideal way to keep one baby close (and properly supported) while freeing up your hands to tend to the other baby. As babies get older and are sitting unassisted (typically around 6 months), it's possible to wear one baby on your front in the Solly and the second baby on your back in another carrier such as a soft-structured carrier or woven wrap. Feel free to email advice@sollybaby.com for helpful strategies for parents of multiples.
If baby starts to sink or loosen over time in your wrap, you probably need to adjust the fit. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have anything to do with how tight or loose the wrap is, but whether it’s equally snug throughout. Once you tie on, you should be able to close your eyes and feel each part of the wrap (midsection, shoulder straps and the ends wrapped around your waist) touching your body with an equal amount of snugness—no part should feel especially tight or slack. Another thing that can help: Be sure the double knot is up around your natural waist, not down around your hips. Here’s a quick and easy checklist to run through each time you tie on to ensure you’re wearing baby safely.
