Holiday Traditions with The Rowleys

elle-1 This season we shared the holiday traditions of some of our closest Solly Baby pals in our #SollyJolly series. I can't tell you how much I loved seeing and hearing how our wraps fit into what makes this season special for you and your families. In fact, I was so inspired that I wanted to share one of our own. line_less-white-space One of our favorite Rowley family holiday traditions is our holiday book themed Advent calendar, carried down from my husband's family. We wrap up the same 25 children's Christmas books every year and put them under the tree. Every evening we open one book and then we snuggle up to read it as a family. I love it because the holiday season can be so over-scheduled and this forces us slow down and cuddle up for a few minutes.   elle-2   These are the books we wrap up each year: 1. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" by Robert L. May 2. "How Santa Got His Job" by Stephen Krensky 3. "Snowmen at Christmas" by Caralyn Buehner 4. "Legend of the Christmas Stocking" by Rick Osborne 5. "The Carpenter's Gift: A Christmas Tale about the Rockefeller Center Tree" by David Rubel 6. "Dream Snow" by Eric Carle 7. "The Littlest Elf" by Brandi Dougherty 8. "The Legend of Poinsettia" by Tomie dePaola 9. "Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree" by Robert Barry 10. "The Little Drummer Boy" by Ezra Jack Keats 11. "Jacob's Gift" by Max Lucado 12. "Mooseltoe" by Palatini Margie 13. "Bear Stays Up for Christmas" by Karma Wilson 14. "The Night Before Christmas" by Clement C. Moore 15. "The Littlest Christmas Tree" by R.A. Herman 16. "Ollie's Ski Trip" by Elsa Beskow 17. "Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg 18. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" by Dr. Seuss 19. "The Animals' Santa" by Jan Brett 20. "Room for a Little One: A Christmas Tale" by Martin Waddell 21. "Who is Coming to Our House?" By Joseph Slate 22. "The Christmas Wish" by Lori Evert 23. "Christmas Day in the Morning" by Pearl S. Buck 24. "The Story of Holly and Ivy" by Rumer Godden 25. "Llama Llama Holiday Drama" by Anna Dewdney What are your favorite holiday stories? I'd love to add them to our collection. And one last note because I couldn't be more grateful for this community, but I'm sure like a lot of you, there's constant pressure to share, check notifications and take care of these little humans I love more than anything. Another tradition I really want to get in the habit of is unplugging over the holidays. So this holiday I'm making a conscious effort to put my phone aside and experience every bit of why this season means so much to our family, and if you're feeling like you might need a little detox as well I highly encourage you to do the same. Happy holidays! 25_books_c
