What’s a time in the last week when your heart has felt full?
Today. On Sundays, we spend time as a family. This one was extra special because we spent the day at my mom’s house and we all heard our baby girl giggle for the first time. It was so wonderful!
What is your favorite thing about your Solly Wrap?
I love how soft and breathable the fabric is. It's like a hug. We both feel protected and so cozy.
What’s your favorite time of day with your little one?
Mornings! All the morning smiles and stretches have become my favorite time.
How do you define your role as a mother?
As their role model, I always try to keep a positive attitude and be kind and loving while always providing discipline. I truly believe it all reflects on their future.
What about motherhood has surprised you?
That we can’t plan motherhood. When our boy Oliver was almost 3 years old, we decided it was time for our second baby. It didn’t quite go as planned. It took us over two years of trying, with two miscarriages along the way. It was a very difficult time—for all of us. It’s not always up to us how and when, and that can be very difficult.
When do you feel at your best as a mom?
When I have a productive day, professionally and as a mom. Nothing beats the feeling of doing all the things I love while being a mom to two happy beautiful babies.
Walk us through a typical day in your life.
Baby Olivia is like a clock—she wakes us all up around 6 am. I move her to my bed for a few minutes to watch her stretch and smile. It’s my favorite start of the day. Then she eats and relaxes for a while, so it’s mommy time. I have breakfast with my husband. Then we wake up Oliver and get him ready for school. I always have some morning time to catch up on work before Olivia gets hungry again. I am blessed to be able to work from home, so I can enjoy these first months with her. We often go on walks around our neighborhood. She still takes a bunch of naps throughout the day so I can get things done around the house or work some more. The day goes by and we make dinner. Oliver comes home from school with my husband and we have a bit of family play time. I go to the gym and my husband has his own time with the kids. At night time, we put them to sleep and catch up as a couple. I love us as a family and feel so blessed!
What would you do with an extra hour in the day (other than sleep)?
Definitely not sleep. I love to be up and about and I’m never tired enough for naps! I would probably lay down and scroll through Pinterest.
What’s something you loved to do before baby that you still do or would like to start up again (eventually)?
Going to the gym. I had to stop because my pregnancy was high risk. Working out was my healthy addiction. I am finally back and can’t wait to feel like myself again.
What words of wisdom would you share with other moms?
Remember who you are. Your personal goals, your health, the things you love…don’t forget any of it. You will be a better mom if you're able to remember and protect who you are outside of motherhood.
What Solly pieces(s) do you have? What's on your wishlist?
We have three sleepers and two wraps (so excited about this new one—the Myrtle Wrap). Now the Flax Crib Sheet is on our wishlist!
