A Summer Capsule Wardrobe For New Mamas

A Summer Capsule Wardrobe For New Mamas

Our bodies change after pregnancy, whether it's our first baby or our fifth. Things shift and slide and nothing is exactly the same as it once was. Which can make finding clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident postpartum a challenge. Enter: the capsule wardrobe.

We love a good capsule wardrobe because decision fatigue is real. And when you keep your closet pared down to basics, it makes it that much simpler to feel put- together (even if you haven't showered in...a while).

For our summer capsule wardrobe, each piece had to check all of these boxes:

  • Is it nursing-friendly?
  • Is it comfortable?
  • Is it machine-washable?
  • Can I easily pair it with other things?
  • Do I feel good when I wear it?

You'll look great no matter what you wear this summer, but we hope if you're in need of a little postpartum style guidance that this capsule wardrobe will help you feel your absolute best when you venture out into the world with your new babe.

Tops

  1. Tank Tops: Nursing-friendly staples that come in a two-pack!
  2. Popover Shirt: Cotton gauze is a summer must.
  3. Striped Tee: Simultaneously casual + put-together.
  4. Swing Top: We love the floral print for this breezy top.
  5. Linen Tee: You can wear these with jeans, skirts, even sweatpants.
  6. Oversized Tee: This one is super lightweight and perfectly relaxed.
  7. Scoop Neck Tee: You can't go wrong with an earthy neutral.
  8. V-Neck Nursing Tops: If you're nursing, it's handy to have a surplus of tops that make it easy to get a boob out at a moment's notice. This wrapover style is so sweet.

Bottoms

9. Bike Shorts: Because every postpartum mama needs a good pair of bike shorts.
10. Tourist Shorts: Did someone say extra pockets?
11. Linen Shorts: Easy to pull on and go.
12. Cropped Wide-Leg Pants: These are deceptively stretchy and come in a variety of pretty hues.
13. Postpartum Jeans: You're out of the maternity jeans but your regular jeans don't quite button comfortably? Been there. These are the perfect "in between" jeans for new mamas.
14. Denim Shorts: You've officially earned the right to rock some "mom" shorts.
15. Midi Skirt: Our favorite thing about this skirt? You can wear each and every top from your capsule wardrobe with it.

Dresses, Etc.

16. Nursing-Friendly Sun Dress: You can wear this delightful dress during pregnancy and beyond.
17. Button-Front Dress: Again, easy access is the name of the game.
18. Loose Jumpsuit: Our favorite item for throwing on when you need to look cute, but still want to feel like you're wearing pajamas.

    Shoes + Accessories

    19. Sea Glass Wrap: We always say you need two wraps, one solid and one print. The fun little pops of color in Sea Glass pair perfectly with this capsule's summer palette!
    20. Flax Wrap: Flax is one of our top selling neutrals for good reason –– it goes with everything. Throw this on with any of your outfits and you'll be set.
    21. Sun Hat: For beach days, park days and everything in between.
    22. Baseball Cap: Because let's be honest: Washing your hair is going to become a rarity. We love the chic leather detail on this broken in cap.
    23. Converse Sneakers: This Shoreline version is the best for slipping on/off when you're wearing a baby.
    24. Slide Sandals: These go with everything!
    25. Cross Strap Sandals: You'll wear these comfy sandals on all your summer adventures.
    26. Crossbody Bag: Every new mom deserves one bag that isn't a diaper bag and doesn't have goldfish crumbs in the bottom.
