When and how did you get connected with Solly?
After exclusively babywearing with my first baby, I knew I wanted to do the same with my second. In 2021, when I had my second baby, I discovered Solly Baby on Instagram. Living in Florida, I needed a carrier that was lightweight and breathable, and the Solly Baby Wrap was the perfect fit.
What’s a time in the last week when your heart has felt full?
A time in the last week when my heart felt full was when I was lying in bed breastfeeding my baby, and my other two kids joined me. Seeing all of my babies cuddled up together was a beautiful moment that filled my heart with joy.
What is your favorite thing about your Solly Wrap?
My favorite thing about my Solly Wrap is how lightweight and breathable it is, especially in Florida's warm climate. It keeps both my baby and me comfortable while allowing us to stay close and connected. Plus, the fabric is incredibly soft and cozy, making it perfect for long periods of babywearing.
Favorite activity to beat the Florida heat with your little ones?
I would love to spend more time at the beach but with this heat we’ve been sticking to indoor playgrounds 😆
What ’s it like balancing your job as a photographer alongside being a mom?
Balancing my job as a photographer alongside being a mom involves a lot of careful planning and support. Thankfully, I have the flexibility to make my own schedule, which is crucial now that I have a newborn and am exclusively breastfeeding. I've been working mainly on weekends and doing short sessions so that my husband can accompany me and watch our baby while I work. We try to schedule all of my work on weekends when my husband is off. If I have to travel for work, we're grateful to have our moms available to watch the kids. This support system allows me to manage both my career and family responsibilities effectively.
When do you feel at your best as a mom?
When my babies say I'm the best!
What would you do with an extra hour in the day (other than sleep)?
Honestly, I'd probably sit on social media 😬🤣
Where was the first place you took your baby (other than the pediatrician’s office)?
Trader Joes
First thing you ate after giving birth?
My midwife repeatedly reminded me to pack snacks and a meal for after labor, but I didn’t think it was a big deal because I hadn’t thought about food once during my last labor. We did pack some snacks, but in the rush to leave the house, we forgot to bring a meal for after the birth. When the moment came and my midwife asked where my meal was, I laughed and told her I had forgotten. She had some frozen quiches in her freezer, so she microwaved them for my husband and me, and that ended up being my first post-birth meal.
What’s something about motherhood that you wish people talked about more?Breastfeeding and how colostrum is all your baby needs in the first few days. Many new moms worry about their milk supply and whether their baby is getting enough to eat, but colostrum, the nutrient-rich first milk, is perfectly designed to meet a newborn’s needs. Understanding this can help alleviate anxiety and build confidence in the early days of breastfeeding.
