“If you want happiness for an hour— take a nap. If you want happiness for a day— go fishing. If you want happiness for a year —inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime— help someone else.” -Chinese proverb
February’s Book Club book is The Book of Lykke. The Danes may be the happiest people in the world, but Wiking travels around the globe, finding the best ways to lead a contended, fulfilled life. This is the easiest book to pick up and get inspired by! Originally, I wanted to share Wiking’s other, more well-known book: The Book of Hygge, but after reading (+ loving them) both, this selection was the clear winner for our community. So many quick tips for increased happiness, with interesting stats accompanying every tip, but, beware- by the time it was over I made no less than five new life plans. I recommend buying the hard copy bc it’s darling and makes it an even quicker and more delightful read. Buy the book, bring a friend along, and download our guide below to discuss with your own book club (my favorite kind of me time, mamas)!

This month’s #sollybabybookclub book is “The Wisdom of Sundays.” I am torn as to whether I should recommend the audiobook, the book, or the podcast so I’ll just tell you to pick your favorite platform or, if you’re as big of an Oprah fan as I am, do all three!💥 The audiobook is 5 hours full interviews and the book is gorgeous collection of the best quotes and snippets from all of her interviews on Super Soul Sunday (her podcast). I’m telling you, there’s no better way to start the new year than feeling inspired inside and out. It’s a part of us that’s way too easy to neglect as a mother but, as matriarchs in our homes, it is so important that we lead with inspiration. So, read or listen along, pull in your friends to join you, and download the discussion questions below to help lead your own book club later in the year.
While doing it all is not attainable and we’re relieved to really understand that, enjoying and living what you love most is pure inspiration for our motherhood and creativity and Sarah Neuendorf has such a pretty tale to tell! As an illustrator, owner of the young Berlin label Greta’s Schwester, and new mama working alongside her baby girl, Sarah’s shop, feed and life are a display of beauty, nature, creativity, grace, gratitude and happiness. Read how her artistry influences her motherhood, how she finds a balance between creativity and parenting and the lessons she hopes to draw for her daughter, below.
Without trying to sound like I’m living out my Oprah fantasies in sharing my favorite things with you! and you! and you!, I honestly have a big list of favorite products that come from inspiring women and projects and brands I’m so happy to stand behind and very excited share! This little roundup is truly my favorite things in a square that I hope brings you the extra happiness they’ve each brought to me. You may even still have time to order gifts (treat yourself, mama!) just in time for the holidays because heaven knows you all deserve it.
If a good life must include sharing our stories and hearts (it must!), start here with the ultimate love and heartache and the honest, miraculous journey to motherhood with twins. Our gorgeous and brave mama friend, Jen Hawkins, is a real life example of finding the silver linings. We cried happy tears, feel so motivated to see the beauty in every little moment and share our own stories, however parenting looks to each of us!
