This post comes to us from Paula Mallis. Paula is a mother, doula, yoga teacher and meditation guide and facilitator of women’s circles living in Venice, California. In January she will be opening WMN Space, a conscious space for women to gather in service to their own healing in Culver City, CA. As a mother herself she has used her own personal experience combined with her training to help prepare women for pregnancy and motherhood, or what she refers to as Maiden to Mother. Today, Paula is here to share her tips for the fourth trimester, the first three months of a newborn’s life.

I’ve had a handful of people ask me for suggestions on parenting books recently. In light of baby #4 making her appearance next month I thought I’d brush up on some of my favorites and finally put a list together for those of you who have been asking. I used to consume parenting books like some women consume fashion magazines, but I’ve slowed down in recent years in an attempt to listen to my own rhythm as a mother. That being said, I’d love to hear your favorites as well so please comment with any exceptional ones that I’m missing out on!

The Archibald Project is an orphan care advocacy organization that uses media to tell stories. Their stories advocate for orphans, educate on orphan care, build community and inspire people into action. This week we have teamed up with this orphan care advocacy group, that harnesses the power of stories, by donating 20% of the proceeds from our Baltic wrap to The Archibald Project and their mission of eliminating the orphan crisis.

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. While it has become exponentially more fun since I had kids, I remember feeling a little overwhelmed with the first Halloween we celebrated as a family. I felt so much pressure to put together the perfect costumes, but couldn’t afford to purchase anything fancy and I knew that I didn’t have the time or energy to embark on any intense DIY’s as a first time mama.

I imagine some of you are feeling the same this year so I’m here to tell you you don’t have to go overboard to have a costume that’s cute, memorable and guaranteed to make you smile when looking back on the photos. Each of these can be put together with pieces from your or a friend’s closet and a few spare props or a simple DIY. So if you’re looking for some new ideas – read on below!
